I so wanted to give Onami 5-STARS, but alas it wasn't in the stars.... LOL
This was my first visit, our son loves it here & was dying to bring us to try "His" Sushi spot. Well it didn't disappoint. The sushi rolls were fresh & delicious, as was the Sashimi! There are plenty of food options and the ones we got taste were very tasty & fresh.
The reason I took a star is for the poor group planning, they had a large party, VERY Large party that went to eat ALL at once! And there was just not enough food to accommodate the large party & the restaurant, so you just got stuck in lines waiting to try food. I think they just need better planning.
We will be returning & keeping our fingers crossed there is no party! -

Tried this place for the first time and it wasn't a good experience at all. The google maps said they open at 5:30, but when I got there their sign said 5:45. After waiting until 5:56 for them to open the door I was greeted with a large room that was way to HOT. I would guess it was in the high 80's in there and outside it was only 75.
The food was fare and over half was cold; well colder then the room temperature
Now for the last four days I'm having diarrhea and I am not saying it was there fault, but if I had to bet I would say.
$28.45 was way to much for this experience -

It's an Okai sushi place.
Obviously they don't serve the best here. But if you want a cheap all you can eat sushi restaurant with ALOT of choices this is your place. The interior is also a bonus. It's spacious.
If you don't mind spending more money for better quality go to RK sushi and it's $30 -

Tbh I only had the sushi, gyozas, udon, and dessert. I like that there's so many rolls of sushi to try from, so I tried about 8-10 different ones. They were alright but nothing really stuck out to me. The udon was above average, but I do like how you can put your own toppings on it. Gyozas were fried and were pretty good. Dessert... I had about 2 matcha ice cream cones and those were bomb. It was more sweet than regular matcha flavor. I also went ham on the chocolate covered strawberries that you do yourself. I can eat those all day long, so kudos to Onami for having that. I also tried some cakes, my favorite being the chocolate!

We've been to Onami many times even when the restaurant was called Tora Seafood Buffet back in the days. This Japanese buffet station is located in Mission Valley mall. It has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with dimmed lighting and dark-finished motif furniture.
Although I moderately have a liking in eating sushi, many people consider this place as one of the go-to areas for this type of food. There is a variety of options at the sushi bar. There are the rolls made out of tofu, cucumber, snowy tuna, spicy beef guacamole and among other sushi offerings. There are also plenty of vegetarian options adjacent to the sushi bar zone.
The staff is friendly and the place is well-kept.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3:00 pm, which at the time, the restaurant was getting ready to transition to dinner. Understandably that buffets can be pricey and considering that changeover was coming to a close, I found the food trays across from the sushi station close to being empty. Note that all the food items served were flavorful and delicious. I was also surprised to see that there weren't too many people inside when we got in. I gave the place a 3-star, review not for the quality but rather the quantity of the food.
